I was excited for this series and really wanted to like it, but couldn’t get through to the end because it got worse as it went along. It’s always interesting to hear about tradecraft operations from the Cold War era, but some of the blanket statements they make about the current state of technology are simply ridiculous and demonstrate a lack of technical understanding on their part. The experts they feature on the show initially seem to be credible, based on how they are introduced in the lower thirds, but the ones they feature the most quickly demonstrate how out of touch they are once they pivot from discussing historical methods to modern day.

Some of the examples given of historical spycraft methods are interesting on their own, but many gloss over key details other shows and documentaries have covered before and better. It becomes more and more distracting as the series progresses and he continues to mispronounce words and mis-accentuate common vernacular. Bahir likes to review movies because he can watch them at special screenings and not have to interact with large groups of people who may not. He is also the narrator of the Netflix series Spycraft. The narrator providing the VO throughout the series is horrible to the point that it takes you out of the show in a way I’ve never experienced on anything outside of YouTube. Dylan R Berry is primarily a music composer, radio host and entertainment industry investor.
